Linda Norris Files For County Council
 At Large Seat

Linda Norris, a Middletown businessperson and community activist, has announced she will be a candidate for the Frederick County Council in the Maryland primary on June 24, 2014.

Norris, 52, filed last week for the election to one of the two at-large seats on the new County Council, which will be the first since voters approved the new Charter form of government in 2012.

"My concern for Frederick County's future when it comes to our environment, the strength of our schools and the need for the viewpoints of all our residents and businesses to be considered equally has only become stronger during the past four years," Norris said. "I want to implement more aggressive plans for our economic and environmental vitality and to push for stronger support for the students and teachers in our public school and community college classrooms."

The Democrat said her expertise in business issues, her communications skills and training, and her knowledge of County Government operations from her tenure as a County Government reporter for the Frederick News-Post –as well as her decade of serving as Frederick County recycling manager and public information officer-- have provided her with a solid working knowledge of Frederick County issues.

Norris, who is married to husband Eric Waldt and has two daughters, a stepson and stepdaughter, coordinates marketing for the US Composting Council based in Bethesda, MD. Norris is also the owner of a local media and copywriting business. She is a member of the Frederick County and Middletown Chambers of Commerce, Holy Family Catholic Community and the League of Women Voters of Frederick County.
