(1/20/2011) As part of the Catholic Schools Week celebrations, Mother Seton School will be awarding the Seton Values Award to Professional Partners, Pastor Jon Greenstone and Jerry Schwartz, and Business Partners, Lorne Peters and Steve Trout. The Seton Values Award is given to individuals and businesses that have longstanding dedication and have made contributions to the Catholic educational mission of Mother Seton School.

Jon Greenstone, Pastor of Elias Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg, and Jerry Schwartz, Environmental Engineer, have worked with Mother Seton School for several years as Green School Committee members. "Your involvement during the past four years with the Green School Committee, your involvement in helping MSS to be recognized as a Maryland Green School, and your involvement and expertise in understanding and obtaining a solar demonstration project to support the instruction goals at MSS and serve as a demonstration to the community are noteworthy accomplishments and most deserving of the Seton Values Award," stated Sister JoAnne Goecke, D.C., Principal of Mother Seton School.

Lorne Peters and Steve Trout, owners of Jubilee Foods of Emmitsburg, have a long relationship with Mother Seton School. "Jubilee Stores involvement and support of Mother Seton School over the years is a most noteworthy accomplishment and deserving of the Seton Values Award. The grocery card rebates to parents for tuition reduction and discounts for all purchases are a huge support for families and Catholic education especially during these economic times," stated Sister JoAnne. "Jubilee’s support of our many school activities… demonstrates your genuine interest in the children and their education."

This year’s recipients will be honored at the Business and Professional Partners Recognition Breakfast on Tuesday, February 1, at Mother Seton School.

Previous recipients of the Seton Values Award include Dan and Greg Reaver, owners of Emmitsburg Glass Company, and Raymond Page of The Page Foundation.
