(12/10) The Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra (FRYO), a nonprofit organization, invites you to their free winter
holiday concert, A Christmas Fantasy, Monday, December 17, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. at the Frederick Church of the Brethren facility, located at 201 Fairview Avenue in Frederick, Md. In lieu of admission,
the organization requests non-perishable food donations to benefit the Frederick Church of the Brethren's food pantry.
An annual FRYO tradition, the orchestra will perform holiday selections by its three groups: the Symphonia, under the direction of Mr. Tom Mitchell; the Philharmonic, under
the direction of Mr. Elijah Wirth; and the Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Nicholas Marini.
Holiday selections will range from classic to contemporary, including Cantique de Noel, featuring vocalist Meaghan Edgerly; A Vaughan Williams Christmas (works collected,
arranged, adapted, and /or harmonized by Ralph Vaughan Williams); The Journey of the Magi; A Christmas Fantasy; and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Meaghan Edgerly is a senior at Brunswick High School. She began cello at age 8 through the Frederick County Public School Music Program. A FRYO member since 2002, Edgerly has
played under the direction of both Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Wirth. Jilby Cheston is her private cello instructor.
A well-rounded student and performer, Edgerly receives private voice instruction from Lenore Odekirk. She performs with her church choir, and has appeared in many theatrical
productions at Brunswick High School. She also participates in school athletics-cross-country, indoor and outdoor track-and is National Honor Society member. Edgerly is the youngest of four children
and lives in Jefferson, Md., with her parents. She plans to pursue a degree in fine arts, and has applied to Southern Virginia University and Brigham Young University.
Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra comprises young musicians from Frederick and the surrounding regions, ranging from upper elementary through high school students, who have
an avid interest in orchestral music. It is supported, in part, by grants from the Maryland State Arts Council, Frederick Arts Council, and by generous community support. For more information, call
