Arts Council annual meeting to feature Gettysburg Festival’s Karl Held

(1/31) The Adams County Arts Council’s Annual Membership Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, in the Refectory of the Gettysburg Lutheran Theological Seminary. ACAC members and the public are invited to attend.

The Gettysburg Festival’s Executive Producer and Arts Council founding member Karl E. Held will be the Arts for a Lifetime guest speaker and offer a preview of the new event. The Gettysburg Festival ~ Celebrating America is a non-profit cultural tourism initiative celebrating America through music, theater, film, art, and dance. Set for June 19-29, this annual festival will present world-class artists and performers, along with unique educational opportunities, against the backdrop of historic Gettysburg.

The Arts Council’s current Roots & Wings artist in residence Dave Leonhardt will give a taste of the cool piano jazz he’s sharing with area students.

Applause Awards will go to three outstanding volunteers: Gettysburg Borough Council Vice President and Blue Parrot Bistro owner Holly Giles, Adams County Literacy Council Coordinator Megan Weikel, and guest speaker Karl Held. Scott Coyle and Scott & Co. Fine Jewelers will be recognized for outstanding corporate leadership in the arts.

Executive Director Chris Glatfelter will offer a year-in-review presentation, and members will elect a new board of directors. According to Arts Council President Betty Snyder, "Our annual meeting is a good opportunity for people interested in the arts to get together, find out what we’re doing, and how they can become involved with the Arts Council. I’d particularly encourage new people in the area to attend." A wine and cheese reception will follow at 8 p.m. Please contact the Arts Council at 334-5006 or info@adamsarts.org by February 29 if you plan to attend.
