(7/8) The 2008 Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra (FRYO) Summer Music Camp offers an opportunity for student musicians who have played an orchestral instrument for at least
one year to extend their musical training and performance skills though summertime orchestra and ensemble playing. The summer camp is run in a day-camp format in an air-conditioned setting from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 14-18, 2008.
During the week-long session, participants will study under music educators, Mr. Tom Mitchell and Mr. Elijah Wirth, in large and small performance groups. Musicians will have
the opportunity to perform a variety of orchestra music selections, play chamber music, explore music theory and make new friends in a fun and informal atmosphere. All students will perform in an
informal concert at the end of the week for family and friends.
Tuition for the camp is $225 (includes a non-refundable $25 registration fee) due with the completed registration form by June 30, 2008. (After June 30, camp registrations
will be accepted if space is available; and a non-refundable $10.00 late fee will be added to the regular tuition and fee). Campers provide their own instruments and supplies (extra strings, reeds,
etc.), transportation and lunches. FRYO supplies sheet music and a daily snack. Dress is casual.
FRYO is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality orchestral music opportunities for students in Frederick County and the surrounding areas. Membership is by
audition and is open to students in the upper elementary grades through high school (public, private and home-schooled) who have played their instruments for at least one year. Auditions are held in
April, from August through mid-October, and in January, or by appointment during the school term.
