Staff Activity
- In
April the staff completed preconstruction meetings
with Baker Engineering (contractor for AT&T).
Construction and laying of the AT&T fiber optic
cable project has now begun and should be complete
by mid to late May. As the project moves through
Lincoln Avenue this will require limiting traffic
daily, along certain sections. To “Local Traffic
Only”.
- On
April 11 , the staff along with Mr. Haller met with
MDE officials in Baltimore and obtained the
necessary sewer taps to allow for the construction
of Bollinger Construction’s new facility on Creamery
Way. In addition the staff met with MDE design
engineering staff to discuss design revisions for
the Creamery Road Force Main Replacement Project. A
followup meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4.
- The
Staff continues to make preparations for the
upcoming pool season. The pool opens on May 27, and
will require a number of repairs to pass Frederick
County inspection. The staff has prepared a punch
list of those items. This years pool management will
be provided by American Pool Management whose
contract fees have remained constant since 2003.
- In
April the Staff met with representatives of an
industrial prospect seeking to locate in Emmitsburg.
As a result, the Town is now in receipt of a site
plan for a 27,000 square foot manufacturing facility
to be located on Creamery Way. The site plan is
currently under review for presentation to the
Emmitsburg Planning Commission.
- In
April two applications were denied, one for a sign
and the other for an addition. Both applicants have
appealed .The appeals will be heard before the
Planning Commission on May 9 on the Sign and before
the Board of Appeals on May 11.
- The
staff has advertized for 20 hour per week part-time
parking and codes enforcement officer. This will
give the Town approximately 60 hours per week of
coverage and greatly enhance enforcement efforts.
Interviews will be conducted this week.
