*Due to the nature of my
internship, I have organized my record into weeks. The
schedule is very laid back and I work out of my supervisor’s
home rather than an office, so my hours are scattered. I
found it more efficient to explain my progress in terms of
weeks rather than days.
Week 1 (1/19/04): Orientation – My supervisor
introduced me to the website, showed me the specific pages I
would be working with, issued my responsibilities, and talked
about the theory of website knowledge-sharing.
Week 2 (1/26/04):
Training – I learned how to use the text recognition software
in order to scan and edit documents, especially Chambers’
Book of Days (month of May), which I will primarily be
working on for the first half of the semester
Week 3
(2/2/04): Scanning and Editing – Scanned in pages of Book of
Days and did rigorous editing to ensure the efficiency of the
pages.
Week 4
(2/4/04): Scanning and Editing
Week 5
(2/16/04): More scanning and Editing; Introduction to Web
Marketing and Content Organization – My supervisor spent a few
hours with me explaining the philosophy behind web marketing
(how to attract users, networking, content, etc.). I have
also begun working on my own articles to post to the site.
Week 6
(2/23/04): Attended a meeting for the Olympic Weightlifting
Championship held at the Mount this July (website created by
my supervisor); Scanning and Editing; Article Submission –
wrote and submitted an article titled “Breaking Body Image
Barriers” about teen dieting habits. It was posted to site
with link to bio and reusme.
Week 7
(3/1/04): Scanning and Editing; Article Writing; Midterm

(3/8/04): Marketing the Effort Over the Internet - Learned how
to submit website content to major national search engines
using marketing-savvy keywords; Article Writing
Week 9
(3/15/04): Search Engine Submission & Marketing; Article

(4/12/04): Website Maintenance - Learned website maintenance
as far as organization of content between multiple websites
(updating content automatically with coded HTML language,
creating page tables, etc.)
Week 14
(4/19/04): Website Creation - learned how to create my own
website using Microsoft FrontPage, including links to other
pages and websites; Scanning & Editing; Article Writing
Week 15
(4/26/04): Scanning & Editing; Article Submission - Completed
"Life Lessons From a College Student" which is a humorous and
light article reflecting on the college experience (posted to
site with links to bio and resume)
